The Sun documentation for the javadoc tool (to generate documentation for your code) is available on-line at
java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/tooldocs/windows/javadoc.html. The same documentation files come as part of the download listed in the previous item if you would like to install them on your own machine.
The official and detailed reference for the Java language itself is
the Java Language Specification. It can be purchased as a book from all the
usual sources, and can be downloaded in various formats from
java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/.
There is a very good network connection and file transfer program called SSH Secure Shell available from the University. They also have a good virus scan program McAfee VirusScan, and numerous other programs available. You can buy a CD at the University Bookstore or download from the net. The link is
www.washington.edu/computing/software/.
The bird program that I showed on Monday is available here:
dist/bird.exe. The program is one of several
interesting applications related to The Art of Artificial Life at
Jeffrey Ventrella's website
