Lab 10 Grades Spreadsheet

C. Designing your Spreadsheet (continued)

Since your spreadsheet heading is in A1, you will want at least one empty row between your first assignment heading and your spreadsheet title, "Spot's FIT100 Grades".

  1. Headings. Click in Cell A3 and enter the heading Labs. Since it is a heading, emphasize it to make it visually stand out from the other information you will be entering in surrounding cells. Either make the font size bigger or press Ctrl-B to make it bold.

  2. Subheadings. On the same row as your heading, Labs, type your subheadings—HW1, HW 2, etc.—in separate cells.  Make sure each subheading is in its own individual cell. Make these bold, italic, or otherwise visually stand out.

  3. Points possible. Click on Cell A4 below the heading "Labs", add a heading, "Points Possible".

  4. Points for each Lab. Each lab is worth 20 points. Enter 20 under each Lab.

  5. Points Earned for each Lab. In Cell A5, add a heading for "Points Earned". Please make "Points Earned" red or another color that stands out by choosing the text color tool (see image below).

  6. Repeat the above steps for each type of deliverable:
    1. Clicker Quizzes—requires three rows
    2. Quizzes
    3. Projects
    4. Extra Credit
    5. Participation
    6. 11 Labs (20 points each): HW1, HW2, Labs 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12

      30 Clicker Quizzes (5 points each) : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9...30

      7 Quizzes (20 points each): 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10

      6 Projects (50 points for Part A, 100 for Part B): 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B

      8 GoPost Weekly Discussion (15 points): 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10

Extra Credit: Labs 8/9 (40 points), Museum Tour (40 points), Lost on Journey to Museum (15 points), Media/Information Survey (10 points), Lecture Bonus 1 (2 points), Lecture Bonus 2 (2 points), Best GoPost Winner (40 points)

Participation: Lab (20 points), Lecture (30 points), GoPost (20 points)

Below is an example of what a spreadsheet from an earlier quarter looked like with different data than you will be using:

  7. Dropping Lowest Scores. As you may recall, your 2 lowest Labs, 6 lowest Clicker Quizzes, 2 lowest Quizzes, and 2 lowest GoPost Weekly Discussions will be dropped. For each category, add a row specifically for this purpose below the Points Earned row(s) for that category.

  8. Extra Credit: At times you can receive extra credit. Add a place for them, for "Points Possible" enter "0's". Use the highlight tool (to the left of the text color tool) to make extra credit cells stand out from others as is done in the example. (Use some eye catching colors like yellow but make sure the text is readable through the highlight).

    1. Labs 6/7. This lab counts as two labs worth a total of 40 points. In Gradebook, half of your score was entered for lab 6 and half for lab 7.
