The Danger Zone

These are the soups that you might not want to serve at a family dinner. The soups that are volatile, unreliable, soups that make you shiver and scowl when you scoop them up. But don't let that scare you away, these soups, although spooky, can be incredibly tasty.

Vichyssoise

Vichyssoise. A fun combination of mashed potatos and roasted leeks and broth combined into a delicious soup. Sounds pretty normal, until one learns that traditionally, Vichyssoise is served chilled. Although a little weird at first, you'll come to love these small sips as a cooldown from a hot day.

Fish Ball Noodle Soup

Fish ball noodle soup sounds like an unusual dish, but in reality, it's a very simple and very tasty bowl of noodles that can be made quickly and eaten informally. When I spent time in Hong Kong, this would be the equivalent of a quick burger meal, just a few thousand times more tasty.

Minestrone Soup

Now this seems like a relatively subtle dish to include in the Danger Zone section here, but let me explain myself. Minestrone soup is definitely the most unreliable soup one can order at a restaurant. Even though it's simple in construction, it always seems that when I order it, it's either a decent vegetable dish, or just straight vinegar. If I wanted vinegar, I would've ordered it. 0/5 Stars
