UPDATE: There was a bug in my CritterMain.java
that made it fail in DrJava. I have fixed it and updated the file as of Wednesday 11/28 at 1:30pm. If you downloaded it before this, can you please re-download CritterMain.java
, recompile it, and try again to run it? Thanks, and sorry for my mistake.
UPDATE: CritterMain.java
is updated with more settings and network features, as of Sunday Dec 2.
We recommend that you download and use this newer version of DrawingPanel because it animates more smoothly. (The old one will still work.)
For example, you could print a message about your own birthday and an interesting fact about that date, such as:
Did you know? Marty's birthday is on 9/19. 9/19 is also International Talk like a Pirate Day. Arrr, me mateys! Here's an example output file that has this output at the end. Consider checking Wikipedia for an interesting fact about your birthday.
Note: Compare your output from within the DrawingPanel. Save the appropriate expected output image below to your disk. Then in the DrawingPanel, click File, Compare to File... and browse to select that image.
You do not need to achieve "0 pixels differ" in the comparison tool to get full credit. It is hard to get exactly the same image as ours because of subtleties about how shapes are painted. If there is no visible difference between your image and ours, you should get the full points.

Please note: You'll probably have at least 3 files related to your song program:
You should turn in Song.java, not the other two. In Windows, it might show up as just Song and not Song.java, because Windows sometimes hides certain file extensions. See the Working from Home section for a description of how to turn this off, if you're interested.
