Install and Configure Audacity

  1. The first software to install is called Audacity. Audacity is shareware, which means you can use it for personal use for free. In Firefox, right click on the following link: audacity-win-1.2.6.exe. Notice that a pop-up menu comes up. Select "Save link as..." from the popup menu and save the installer program to your desktop. You can find out more about Audacity at their site.

  2. The second software to install is called LAME, which is also shareware, and will allow us to save our podcases to mp3 format (so we can play them on mp3 players). As before, right click on the following link and save the installer to your desktop: Lame_v3.98.2_for_Audacity_on_Windows.exe. You can find out more about Lame at their site.

  3. Now, double click on the Audacity installer.
    Click Next on the first installer dialog.
    Accept the license agreement, and click Next again.
    Click Next on the information page.
    And click Next on the next 2 windows
    Finally, click the Install button.
    When the install is done, you can uncheck the "Launch Audacity" check box.

  4. Now, double click on the LAME installer.
    Click Next on the first installer dialog.
    Accept the license agreement, and click Next again.
    And click Next on the next 2 windows
    Finally, click the Install button.
