Lab #4 Altering images with GIMP

Copyright laws

When a person takes a photo, they own the rights to that photo and their rights are violated when someone uses their photo without permission.

A person can grant permission to use their photo and may do so freely or may do so with stipulations (e.g. that they are given credit).

When a US government agency creates photos with taxpayer money, they are generally "in the public domain" and free for anyone to use.

1. To find photos online that you can use, try searching for "public domain photos" or "free photos" or "copyright free photos".

2. Now find the site's or the individual photo's usage policy (there may be a link that says something like "Terms & Conditions" or "usage policy"). You will be pasting this text into a Word document.

The next page will explain what to submit for lab 4
