Our lovely group of TAs poses for a picture (Spring 2016).
The introductory programming courses at UW (CSE 142 and CSE 143) are unusual in that undergraduate teaching assistants manage a large portion of the course (teaching section, grading, etc.). The TA program offers a rare opportunity to undergraduate students to become teachers themselves. Around 75 TAs work each quarter to keep the cogs of CSE 142/143 turning!
UW principal lecturer Stuart Reges first used undergraduate TAs when he taught at Stanford and then at the University of Arizona before coming to UW. The structure of the UW undergrad TA program therefore closely mirrors that of Stanford.
