In this course we study query processing and query optimization techniques used by modern data management systems. In addition to regular lectures covering a variety of topics, we have invited lecturers from industry with huge experience in building such systems. Grading has three components components: paper reviews, an open-ended class project, and class participation (discussions, questions, etc).
Lectures will be streamed, but please make an effort to attend in person! Guest lecturers are coming in person, and it's sad if they face an empty room.
