The goal of the Restaurant 2.0 project is to explore how ubiquitous computing can be used to improve the experience of dining in restaurants.

Imagine a dining experience where...

the hostess shows you to a table and hands you a tablet. You peruse the specials and other menu items paying close attention to ratings from other diners. You notice details such as nutritional information and see recommendations of other items to order that go well with what you have selected. Once you have made your decision, you simply press a button on the menu to indicate that you are ready to order.

All payment occurs on the tablet. You choose the items you ordered, rate them and pay.

The system integrates with social networking services which allows diners to easily share their experience with family and friends. The system also allows diners to track their dining history and get event notifications from restaurants they have eaten at or subscribed to.
