Course description

Students in this course will explore methods for working with large data sets from both practical and theoretical perspectives. In labs and an independent design project, students will work with Hadoop, an open source implementation of MapReduce and GFS, hosted on a large server cluster.

  • Project 2 due Monday Feb 11 at 11:59 PM. Due date was extended as mentioned in class.
  • Class will meet in lab, room 003D, on Thursday January 31st. We will start on project 2 in lab.

  • Project 1 due date has been extended to 11:59 PM Jan 30th.

  • Class will meet in lab, room 003D, on Tuesday January 15th. We will be doing a demo of how to use hadoop and the map-reduce tools for eclipse. Room 003D is in the back of the eng lab 003. Everyone enrolled in the class should have keycard access.
