Introduction
In this lab we created a remote controlled blimp that was made using a helium balloon, two MSP430F2274 chips, and an MSP430F5510 on a board connected to three propeller motors. Communication to/from the blimp are a combination of UART and radio communication from our Java GUI and the blimp’s processor. In this paper, we will describe the specific hardware components that were used in this project, an overview of how things were put together, and some of the drawbacks and results from our approach to building our system in the way we chose.
