First Draft Project Website (Group)

Your final project will include an accessible, public-facing web page as part of the class site by providing us with kramdown markdown. You can check accessibility using the kramdown markdown editor.

Your page at this stage should contain the following:

  • Abstract paragraph
  • First Person Information (based on group competency handin)
  • Examples of similar products that already exist
  • Disability Model Analysis: ~3-5 paragraphs (based on group competency handin)
  • Images of your Storyboard

Plain Language (Individual)

Each person in your group should pick a different paragraph from (Abstract, first person account analysis, disability model analysis) and write a plain language version of that paragraph. Try to pick a group of paragraphs that will go well together, this plain language overview will eventually go on your project website

Team Reflection (Group)

Discuss the following as a group, and be prepared to discuss with our staff as well

  • How are you doing on your timeline?
  • Do you need to revise your timeline or feasibility analysis?
  • What can be improved in how your group is communicating?
  • Do you need to adjust any roles?

Team Reflection (Individual)

  • What has worked particularly well in your team? Name at least two specific examples. You may also refer to specific software solutions that have supported your remote team work.
  • What could be improved in your team work and how do you think you can contribute to improving it?
  • How has your team enabled you to make progress towards your personal learning goals that you submitted last week?
  • What do you wish you could change about yourself and about your team to get more out of this class? What do you intend to do about it?

Assessment & Handin Process

Turn in your individual team reflection on Gradescope.

Turn in your draft website on Gradescope as a zip file. Everything should be in a folder labeled with your team name, including images. We will upload it to the class website

Come to a discussion with the course staff prepared to:

  • Share your first milestone results. How does this compare to what you intended to accomplish?
  • What are your goals for your next milestone? Has anything changed?
  • Where do you need advice/feedback?
  • Discuss your team role reflection
  • You may prepare slides, but they are not required

Accessible Documents (rubric)

  • Your writeup (Microsoft word) or PowerPoint, or markdown (when required by the assignment). Note: do not submit a PDF. We expect your submission to be a Word or Google Doc.
  • A list of images and the ALT text you wrote for each of them
  • Which best practices are demonstrated in this document
  • A screen shot showing the accessibility checker results for your document
