Video Prototype

We filmed our video prototype by first meeting and discussing possible scenarios/stories that we could walk through as a context that would be accessible by viewers. After brainstorming ideas we narrowed our story down to focus on two professors and their discussion regarding their classes. One professor had already been using the application and so he was able to walk through the application’s features and functions with the other professor who was struggling with one of his classes.

he scenes all take place in the offices of the professors. We first filmed shots of the actual interface so that we were sure in post-production that we would have them for inputting throughout the film. We used paper as a means of illustrating our interface and simply pinned it to our computer screen (as our system will be a desktop application). This made it easy to make changes and allow for editing in post-production to illustrate navigation. Equipment we used included a MiniDv camcorder, tripod, paper, tape, sharpies and an office space. We later edited the video, adding music and titles to help inform the viewer of context and various tasks taking place throughout the film
