Application Overview

LookUp is a mobile application, targeting English Language Learning students, that provides an unobtrusive way of looking up word definitions while reading. The application integrates the lookup process and the reading experience together in a fast and accessible way that promotes vocabulary increase. The goal of the application is to help users better understand their reading materials and expand their vocabulary.

Why LookUp?

Through our design process, we have discovered that when readers do not know a word, they usually skip it or have to look it up in a dictionary to learn the meaning. With lookup, this process is streamlined and provides review to maximize the number of words added to a reader's vocabulary instead of just read and then forgotten.
