The NCBI website has precomputed BLAST queries (where a protein is used to search all the bacteria to find similar proteins, for example, proteins similar to metK of B. subtilis) that we will use for this project. Each query is uniquely identified by a 'pid' (protein ID), and I have written a perl script that, given a 'pid' and the number of BLAST hits you'd like, will download this information and extract it. |
