  • Anup Rao (he/him) (Instructor)
  • anuprao [at] cs.washington.edu
  • Office Hours: Tue 11a-12p (Allen 5th floor breakout)

  • My research is broadly in theoretical computer science. I love thinking about clean mathematical questions that are relevant to computer science. Most of my research papers involve advanced applications of the topics that are taught in this class!
I have a youtube channel where I post videos about topics in math, computer science and finance that I find interesting: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbVGFH5BbNixiAdgZ42ERyQ. Like and subscribe!
  • Stefano Tessaro (he/him) (Instructor)
  • tessaro [at] cs.washington.edu
  • Office Hours: Mon 3-4p (Allen 644)

  • My name is Stefano—pronounced [ˈsteːfano] (i.e., the stress falls on the "e"). I have been a professor in the Allen School since January 2019. Most of my research is on cryptography — I develop secure systems backed by rigorous proofs of security, and also study the underlying theoretical foundations. Discrete mathematics and probability play a major role in my research. As a matter of fact, randomness is essential to achieve security and privacy! One of my favorite research topics related to 312 is how to generate randomness on a (not-meant-to-be-random) computer.
