Hi, I'm Brett! I grew up outside of Boston, MA and moved to Seattle after college. I earned my B.A. in Computer Science from Harvard University and my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from UW. This is my fourth year teaching in the Allen School. Before I came here, I developed curriculum and trained teachers for Microsoft's TEALS program, taught CS at Issaquah High School, and worked as a developer at Microsoft. Outside of teaching, I am a high school football official, a frequent volunteer at local FIRST Robotics events, and an avid board game and RPG player.
Hi guys, I'm John! I'm from Kent, WA and am a senior in the Allen School this quarter. This'll be my first quarter as a TA for CSE 143 and I'm excited to meet and work with you all! Outside of classes I enjoy road trips, watching anime, and exploring new music. Very self-conscious about my typing speed because of my friends :/
Hi everyone! I grew up in Maple Valley, WA and am a second year majoring in CS. I'm excited to meet you all! In my free time, I enjoy watching football (just recently won a couple fantasy football championships), visiting new restaurants (pre-covid), and have recently picked up cooking.
Hey, I'm Lisi! I'm a senior Informatics major in the Interdisciplinary Honors Program. Recently, I've been doing web development for an RSO/nonprofit that works on synthetic biology education accessibility, so I'm always happy to talk about that or any past activities (usually education/tech/leadership-related). In my spare time, you can find me playing piano/harp and making Viennese dishes like Kaiserschmarrn and Zwetschgenknödel. I'm excited to meet you all! :)
Hey everyone! I'm Evan, I am from Shoreline, Washington, and I am in my fourth year at UW. Outside of CSE, I'm interested in music, music production, marching band, and lifting. I'm excited to TA for you all this quarter!
Hi everyone!! I am a CS major from Redmond, WA and I'm super excited to TA this quarter. I love anything and everything outdoorsy, and am always looking to try new things. Hi, I'm Dylan! I'm a sophomore studying CS and math here at UW. This will be my second quarter as a TA in the Allen School. Outside of school, I love discovering new music and eating all the food I can get my hands on (as long as I don't have to cook it). Even though we won't be able to see each other in person this quarter, I'm super excited to get to know you all!
Hi Y'all! My name is Sumant and I'm super excited to TA 142 this quarter! I'm grew up in India but I've lived in Singapore for a large part of my life. Hi! I'm a sophomore who snuck under the covers of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Danganronpa series over Winter break. Currently, my main sources of pleasure are drinking tea (black, peppermint, and Earl Grey) and listening to classical music. Oh, also, this is my first time TAing 143, so I'm super excited to work with y'all through the quarter!
Yodels! My name is Eric and this will be my 12th quarter as a TA for the intro series. CSE 143 is one of my favorite courses as a student and as a TA; I'm very excited to meet all of you! I have too many hobbies, but recently I've been backpacking and speedsolving a rubik's cube. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions this quarter or just want to chat. Fun facts: I've hiked the entire PCT from Mexico to Canada and my favorite emoji is the sun emoji!
Hey! I'm a third-year studying CS, and I'm from San Jose, CA. Outside of class, I love badminton, drawing, and (over)analyzing the evolving Seattle milk tea scene. Fun fact: I love dogs now, but as a kid, I ranked them scarier than an earthquake. I'm excited to TA this quarter!
Hi folks! My name is Jeremy and I am a senior studying Computer Science and minoring in Math. This is my seventh quarter TAing the 14X series. I'm from the beautiful Bainbridge Island across the Puget Sound and in my free time I love to play tennis and play video games. Looking forward to meeting you all this quarter!
Hi, I'm Arthur, and I'm excited to TA this quarter! Besides TA'ing, I love my silly dog, chocolate milk, the beach, and playing sports. Hot recipe tip: frozen berries (yep that's it). You can thank me later.
Hi, I'm Kimi! I'm a second year in the College of Engineering, and this is my first quarter TA-ing CSE 143. Looking forward to meeting you all this quarter!

Hello! I'm a third year studying CS and (pure) math. Fun fact: if I couldn't be a SWE, I see myself as a professor :) When I'm not writing code or writing proofs, I like to spend my time rock climbing (prior to COVID), brewing fancy teas, and (unproductively) binging TV shows.
I'm a senior studying CS. I got into CS as a side-hustle making websites, trading crypto, and teaching elementary school kids programming. Outside of computer science, I really like watching classic movies. A fun fact about me is that everyone in my family was born in a different country.
Hyped about this quarter! A little about me: I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and love watching the Godfather, hikes and nature, and gangsta rap.
Hi everyone! My name is Jun, and I'm a third-year studying CS. This summer, I helped develop an app called KiwiLink, a UW study buddy finder. If y'all need study buddies in 142, feel free to use the app :).
Hey everyone! My name is Joe and I'm a second year studying CS and Drama (specifically interested in lighting). Feel free to come chat with me about all things CS, sports, or Tesla!

Hi, I'm Austin! I'm currently a 3rd year studying computer science and I'm excited to be teaching this course this quarter! Some of my interests include playing drums, video games, and photography.
Hello! I'm in my fourth year studying HCDE. I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so I have lots of opinions about cheese. You can usually find me thinking about design, playing piano, writing code, cooking/eating, or giving names to all of my household appliances.
Hey everyone, Andy here! I was born in China, but I lived in Canada and the US also. I love watching animation, eating/drinking mushroom soup, and long walks -(on the beach)- on the UW campus listening to audiobooks. I am excited to make this quarter fun for y'all!
We'll be using Discord as our Office Hours queue platform this quarter. We aim for Discord to be an environment where you can comfortably collaborate with others, intuitively queue yourself for office hours questions, and build community with your peers. Please give us frequent feedback– we are still in the experimental phase of using online tools like Discord in this course. Remember that TAs do not monitor this Discord except during their assigned Office Hours times. For staff help outside of Office Hours times, please post on Ed.
You can find the links to join our course Discord in the Resources tab on Ed. There are two ways to use Discord: by using a Discord account, or by joining anonymously (Separate links are provided for each option).
Thanks to the staff of CSE 373 from Summer 2020 for piloting these instructions.
Note that Discord is a 3rd party application. Course staff will never release your personal information on Discord without your permission. If you choose to create a Discord account, you have the option of putting in personal information such as your real name or email address, but doing so is NOT necessary to participate in office hours. TAs will generally help you via Zoom after getting to you on the queue, so it's possible to treat Discord as nothing more than an anonymous queueing system.
