Are you a student in the UW honors program interested in learning more about how computer scientists view the world?
If so, you may be interested in joining Hélène Martin for an honors experience linked with CSE 142. You will meet weekly for 1.5 hours to discuss broader issues in computer science and beyond. This quarter, most of your conversations will be around readings from How to Create a Mind: The Secret of Human Thought Revealed (which you will need to purchase).
The only requirements for the honors section will be to complete the readings and actively participate in our weekly discussions. Honors students who successfully participate in the honors section will receive honors credit for 142. They won't be graded differently in the course or be asked to complete more work beyond the readings but their transcript will indicate that they took an honors version of CSE 142. We will also accept a small number of motivated students not in the honors program on a space-available basis.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please fill out this survey by Thursday 4/4 to indicate which meeting times would suit your schedule.
