Announcement Archive ...
outdated announcements are listed here.
A. 22: The Project 3A database is now posted under Files. Save it to your desktop using IE. It is acceptable to use your own version of 3A for the assignment. (I apologize for not getting this out by my deadline.) I am extending the turn-in time for submitting until Monday 15 March 2004 at 5:00 PM. A. 21: The eTurn-in will be operational on Wednesday. (See link at left.) Please submit your entire Access Database (compacted) before 11:00 PM Thursday. (If you use your late day on this assignment, contact your TA to find out how he/she wants it submitted.) A. 20: For Monday, find out what happens when you get arrested for drunken driving at http://dui.findlaw.com/index3.html. A. 19: Ege Ersoz has posted a reply to my "posting to the BBoard is being abused" mail, and I've replied to it. The bottom line: The BBoard continues to be a good way to learn. Keep using it! A. 18: Project 2B solution is posted under files. A. 17: The Midterm 2 is Monday. Bring a writing implement and a photoID. A. 16: The "Folks" exercise files from Friday (the 13th) lecture are listed under Files. A. 15: The class bulletin board is provided for you to discuss FIT100 topics, but it is not for giving out code or other explicit answers. Questions should be specific and the answers should say how to figure out the solution, not what the solution is. A. 14: Monday and Tuesday labs are canceled because of President's Day. But, the TAs and I will be in the three scheduled Tuesday labs (see below) to answer questions ... please drop in and work on your project if you want someone around who can answer questions. A.13: Project 2 must be "commented". Check the link for how to do this. A.12: A new version of the Project has been published with slightly different turn-in instructions: Do not send the URL to your TA by email (unless instructed otherwise). Rather, write the URL, your name and section letters on the hardcopy turned-in in class. A.11: Labs are held in their usual rooms. A.10: The Calendar has been set for the remainder of the term. A.9: All papers submitted for grading--quizzes, projects, assignments, etc.--must have your section letters on them, or you lose points. A.8: All labs will meet in MGH 044 for the next two weeks (20 Jan through 29 Jan). A.7: Monday is the Martin Luther King Holiday. There is no lecture and no labs; Tuesdays labs are also canceled. A.6: New and Future Students--As of Friday noon there were 7 open spaces for FIT100. (If you sign up for Section AE, note that it meets TTh 1:30-2:20 in OGUL CoLab 1.) If you have not attended all of the FIT100 classes and done the assignments, please check all links on the Calendar for the classes you missed and do the work before the next class. It is still possible to catch up! A.5: Section AE's location has been corrected to OGUL Colaboratory 1 in the earlier announcement. A.4: Section AA's location has been moved to MGH 030. A.3:
FIT100 SECTION AE DATE, TIME and ROOM
REVISED. Because CSE and the iSchool listed different dates and times
for Section AE, the lab room has changed and some students will have to
revise their schedule. The time is A.2: Because of the snow/ice/slush and the mailer bug, Assignment 1 can be turned in Wednesday or Friday in class or Thursday in Lab. A.1: Students with little or no experience using a personal computer are encouraged to come to a "Computer Basics Lab": Monday 5 January 2004 5:30-7:30 MGH 030 Tuesday 6 January 2004 6:00-8:00 MGH 030 to learn mouse-and-menus, email basics, Web browsing basics.
