The goal of the project is to allow students to go into depth in an accessibility topic.
Deliverables

Project topic suggestions
The format of the projects are pretty flexible, but here are some guidelines for the types of projects that you may wan to consider:
A. Accessibility technology comparison
Pick a specific type of accessibility technology (e.g., technology for helping the blind access websites),
and pick out a minimum of four specific solutions that exist or have been proposed.
Analyze the key features of each solution, how they differ, what the benefits and
shortcomings of each solution are, what evaluation have been done to asess their effectiveness,
what the issues are with those evaluations, and how you think the solution or the evaluation can be improved.
Some examples of topics include:
Screen reader technology
Captioning technology
Technology for learning disabilities
Technology for color blindness
B. Policy analysis
Select at least two policies related to accessibility technology from different countries or addressing different disabilities, and analyze their extent, their implications, how they have been applied in practice, and what you think are the strengths and weaknesses of each, and how you think they may be improved.
Some examples of topics include:
Web accessibility standards
Legal issues in web accessibility
C. Implementation
This is only recommended for those who have significant technical experience in rapidly developing a working prototype. If you have an idea of extending or creating an accessibility technology solution, you may create a prototype of the system and demonstrate its use.
D. Other
If you have a concrete idea for what you might want to do for the project which does not fit into any of the above categories, please propose it in the Project Ideas discussion area on the class discussion forum, and we will review them on an individual basis.
