This is a impressionist picture of my baby girl taken when she was 3 weeks old. The focus of the painting is on the face. Fine brush strokes were used to highlight the eyes, nose and mouth. The rest of the painting uses larger brush-strokes. This techniques brings attention to the face and away from the rest of the painting. The blanket is painted with fine lines to preserve its hairy texture. The foldings on the background quilt is also brought out using careful brush selections. The background and surrounding areas are made more "blurry" using a combination of brush sizing and opaque-ness.
