In this paper the authors examine peer-to-peer system 'Kazaa' trace
data collected from the UW network and make conclusions based on that
data. The paper clearly demonstrates that P2P traffic is quite different
from http traffic, provides an explanation for that fact, discusses
approaches for bandwidth optimization using caching techniques.
This was the most fun paper we had - I enjoyed reading it a lot. The
question that came up is - is it really a good idea to cache Kazaa data
- since it does not adhere to ZIph curve, it is unlikely that cached
object would be required by some other clients.
