The exam will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in our regular CSE2 G10 classroom. We have reserved the room for an extra half-hour "just in case". If the test turns out to be a bit too long, we will allow some extra time to finish up without excessive time pressure, so please plan to be available for that time if needed.
The exam covers everything we've done in the course, including all homework and project assignments. The exam will be closed-book, but reference information will be provided with the exam as needed, so you shouldn't memorize or need detailed notes about things like the MiniJava grammar, details of x86-64 assembly language or calling conventions, or definitions of terms or algorithms. You can also have two 5x8 index cards with whatever hand-written notes you wish on them. See the list of exam topics for more detailed information. There should be time at the end of class on Wed. Nov. 19 to talk about the exam and answer questions.
The main goal of an exam is to provide a chance to review and assimilate what we've done in the course. Ultimately maybe the best piece of advice is one your instructor heard long ago from another professor: "Relax, you are here to learn", and you will do well.
