As you read the paper by Tatbul et. al, consider the following questions:

Question 1: What is the goal of load shedding, and what are the three main decisions that a load shedder must take?

Question 2: What are the benefits and drawbacks of semantic load shedding over random load shedding?

Question 3: What are the challenges of shedding load in the presence of join operators? How about aggregates?
