As you read the paper and browse the different tools that Google offers, consider the following questions:

 

Question 1: Should a relational DBMS include support for keyword search over text documents? What are the challenges and implications of adding such functionality?

 

Question 2: User data management needs have continuously evolved since relational DBMSs were first introduced: new data types have appeared (e.g., images, video, XML), users started to access and share data differently (e.g, Web services). How should databases adapt to these changing and expanding user needs? Should we continue to extend the functionality of DBMSs or is it time to revisit their fundamental architecture?
