Informal Summer Seminar Topics Schedule
We are meeting for an even less formal than usual reading
seminar in the HUB's Atrium seating area this summer. We
meet on Thursday mornings at 11:00, followed by our group
lunch.

Experiments in Encouraging Classroom Participation,
Ratto, Griswold et al. (Steve)
Read one of the three papers (your choice) below.
Copies are available on Sieg's fourth floor, on top of
the VAX (west end of the hallway).
- PrimeClimb: Designing to facilitate mediated
collaborative inquiry A mathematics game for
12/13 year olds designed (perhaps a bit
slavishly) based on theoretical and practical
principles of collaborative learning. No
evaluation.
- From lecture recording towards personalized
collaborative learning. An expansion on the
authoring-on-the-fly system (which does
eClass-style lecture recording) to support post
hoc discussion in the context of the lecture
media.
- Integrating Software Agents with FLE3. Describes
agents in a distributed collaborative learning
environment (a discussion environment, in
particular) designed to assist students and
instructors in making effective use of the
environment.
