Wednesday 11:30-12:20, MGH 085 (note: we are back to the originally assigned room)

We're running 590nl a little differently this quarter. Instead of the normal "present a paper each week", we are going to run the class as a mock Sigcomm PC. Each week, we'll pick one or two papers to discuss. Everyone in the class will submit a review of the paper at least 1 hour prior to the class meeting, using the standard Sigcomm reviewing form. We'll then discuss the papers' strengths and weaknesses, concluding with a vote on whether the paper should be accepted or rejected.

These papers are being used for the class with the authors' permission, and class participants are bound by the same responsibilities as regular reviewers; talk to the instructor if any of the outlined responsibilities are unclear. To preserve anonymity and confidentiality, paper distribution is restricted to those registered for the class. You may not discuss these papers with anyone who is not part of the class.

How to participate:

  1. Register for the class. Only registered students will be given access to the system.
  2. Register yourself at http://morningstar.cs.washington.edu/sig590nl/. You should get an email with your password in it; log in to make sure that it works.
  3. Send email to ratul nicely asking him to add you as a PC member.
  4. Enter and finalize the review for a paper anytime before the class in which it would be discussed. You will be able to see other finalized reviews after you finalize yours; it would help to read them before class to effectively argue for or against the paper.

We will use the cse590nl mailing list for announcements. Visit http://mailman.cs.washington.edu/mailman/listinfo/cse590nl to subscribe.
