This quarter's discussions are focused around the research interests
of the participants.
The approximate schedule is as follows:
- Apr. 5. "BOINC: A System for Public-Resource Computing and Storage" by David P. Anderson. (R. Thompson). Issues: crowdsourcing of cycles vs human info-processing; "credit" as a motivator; common characteristics of successful BOINC projects; fault tolerance (needs and solutions); startup costs of a BOINC project; comparisons to CoSolve and Fold-it.
- Apr. 12. "Detecting and Understanding the Impact of Cognitive and Interpersonal Conflict in Computer Supported Collaborative Learning Environments" by Prata, Baker, Costa, Rose, Cui and de Carvalho. (T. Robison). Issues: effects of anti-social behavior.
- Apr. 19. "Visualization of participation: Does it contribute to
successful computer-supported collaborative learning?" by
Janssen, Erkens, Kanselaar, and Jaspers. (S. Fan).
Summary slides.

Improves Exploration, Group Rapport, and Results (Dow et al). (E. Andersen).
- May 3. The Efficacy of Prototyping Under Time Constraints (Dow et al, again). (Y.-E. Liu).
- May 10. A Hands-on Modeling Approach to Evolution: Learning about the Evolution of Cooperation and Altruism Through Multi-Agent Modeling - The EACH Project (Centola et al). (D. Broderick)
- May 17. Becoming a Wikipedian (T. Pavlik)
