2.  There are two explanations for false positives in the second group picture.  First, all the faces that were not found either had facial hair or glasses, which were largely not present in the training faces.  Second, the technique I'm using to prevent the algorithm from being fooled by low-texture areas probably isn't that great.  These problems could be improved by training a larger, more, diverse set of faces, and by using a more sophisticated technique to rule-out low-texture areas.
