Flourish

This was taken in QFC. We set the compensation mode as "cloudy" to add some warmth color to the images. We got a problem when shooting the area where the girl stood. We got her in one picture. But as she moved away, we lost her in the next shot in which she was supposed to be. The stitched picture turned out to be a "ghosted" image, where the girl becomes transparent and intertwined with the bottles. I applied a "dynamic blendwidth" to solve this problem. The method is described at the bottom of this page.

Suzzallo in the Morning Light (hand-held)

This was taken in the grand reading room. We set the manual mode so that there won't be sharp changes in brightness. We also tried to fix the optical center of the camera at a certain point while it was rotated. However, you can still see the double images, especially in the chairs. What might account for this is my impulse to snap the ceiling, which distracted me from holding the camera right up. Fortunately, this effect is mitigated by reducing the blendwidth.

Curious Observers on the Quad Square

There is nothing special for this panorama, except that I got a couple of observers when I took the pictures.

Test Sequence?

I only found segments of the sequence and that's it.

To solve this problem. I added "dynamic blendwidth" technique to set the blendwidth according to the similarity between the pictures. I applied smoothing filter first, then in the overlap area, I scan each column to accumulate difference of between the two pictures. If the accumulated difference of a column becomes high enough, we detect a consistency and set it as the boundary from which blending won't be applied.
