Region Segmentation:
Segmentation Criteria

A segmentation is a partition of an image I into
a set of regions S satisfying:
1.  È Si = S                       Partition covers the whole image.
2.  Si Ç Sj = f, i ¹ j          No regions intersect.
3.  " Si, P(Si) = true         Homogeneity predicate is
                                               satisfied by each region.
4.  P(Si È Sj) = false,        Union of adjacent regions
    i ¹ j, Si adjacent Sj          does not satisfy it.
