CSE 510 -- How to Submit Paper Reviews

The two major components of the course are reading the papers, and the course project. The other assignments are relatively light. The field of human-computer interaction has emerged as a distinct area of research, and the literature has grown enormously in the past decade. You have an opportunity to develop a solid understanding of a field in only 10 weeks, but this requires considerable reading. The lectures and discussions won't always cover all of the readings.

Please submit a brief evaluation of each assigned reading 5pm of the day before the class in which that paper will be discussed.  (See below for the skip policy.)  Each review should include:

We'll set up an EPost discussion system for posting reviews, which will be linked to the readings page for each week.  After you've submitted your reviews, you can also respond to other students' comments (although this isn't required).  Each review will be graded simply as pass/fail.

Note that we are looking for brief reviews that summarize the main points and evaluate the reading. A long review is not necessary (although if you have a lot to say, go ahead).

Skips: You can skip up to 5 reviews. (A very few papers are marked "don't skip," however.)

In exceptional circumstances make a prior arrangement with Alan, Patrick, or Janet.
