Recent years have seen an explosion in the number of photos on the web, through sites like Flickr and Google Images. Traditional image browsing tools do not scale well to collections of this size; recent projects, such as Photo Tourism and Flickr Maps, have sought to use location information or geometry to address this problem. However, these new tools require handling many megabytes of image data, as well as hardware-accelerated rendering, making implementing them on the web a challenge. In this talk, we present several intuitive, interactive online 3D image browsers, and describe their implementation, including their use of efficient image streaming and graphics hardware.
