Online Two-Player Collaborative-Learning Activity for Educational Assessment

by
Charley Zhang

Abstract:

In order to explore new ways of assessing online learning, we are developing a stylized learning activity that supports a pair of students studying a subject using interactive discussion and quiz questions. By restricting their interactions according to game rules, the assessment can more readily evaluate the way each student plays his or her role. We are implementing an extension of the graphical model assessment facilities within the UW's experimental INFACT environment in order to be able to assess the players' actions in the collaborative context. A goal of this work is to better understand how to automatically assess collaboration.
