Python Programming Environment for Diagnostic Educational Assessment

by

The Python Programming Environment for Diagnostic Educational Assessment is an integrated development environment (IDE) targeted towards students taking an introductory course on the Python programming language. Using this IDE, students' source code will be analyzed by the system according to assessment patterns defined by the instructor of the course. At the completion of the periodic real-time analysis, feedback will be displayed to the students containing intelligent information about potential problems and/or helpful suggestions for completing the assignment successfully. This IDE works by interfacing with the INFACT infrastructure which contains the necessary tools for logging student source code and performing the actual pattern-based analysis. Students, however, will not need to know anything about the INFACT connection except for when logging into the IDE with their INFACT credentials.
