Generation of Panoramic Images from Video Sequences
by
David Dewey
Multi-perspective panoramas of street scenes can be generated from video
taken from a car-mounted camera. We present techniques for creating
such panoramas by taking strips from each video frame, stabilizing the
images by computing the translations between frames and correcting for
jitter, and warping the strips according to optical flow to adjust for
motion parallax. We can extend our method to make stereo panoramic images
of street scenes by taking strips from different sides of the frames to
generate stereo pairs.
