Homework 5 (due April 30)

Provide written answers to the following short-answer questions. Try to be 
detailed but concise.

1. What types of problems are well suited to the BOINC paradigm? In these 
cases, why might a using a system like BOINC be better than using a system like 
MapReduce?

2. The BOINC paper briefly mentions the need for the client to make "accurate 
and cheat-resistant measurements of the work done by each host." Certainly, 
preventing cheating on the leader boards is only the tip of the iceberg when it 
comes to avoiding data falsification. What are some of the problems that arise 
in a loosely-coupled system that lacks trust? How do you suppose BOINC could 
handle these issues?
