People with hearing loss can have difficulty hearing important sounds that occur throughout their living spaces. Doorbells, alarms, and crying babies are just a few examples of sounds that are important to detect.
We propose an Android app, Sound Detector, that lets users detect when user-defined sounds occur using the Android phone.
Here's how the app works: The user gets an Android device and loads up the sound detection app. They give the sound detection app some examples of some sounds they want it to recognize, then leave the phone plugged in in a desired location. Then, they load up the monitoring app on a different phone and carry that around with them. Whenever the detector phone hears something, it will alert them on the monitor.
