CSE 490 RA, TABLET PC Capstone, Final Demos
Thursday, 10:30 am - 12:20 pm
CSE 305 in the Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science and Engineering
Student teams will give demonstrations of their projects. The students have devoted the entire quarter in exploratory development
of novel Tablet PC applications. The three projects are: shared note taking, handwriting based editing, and recognition of data
structure diagrams. (Screenshots are from their V1 prototypes - new screenshots will be available shortly).
Shared Note Paper
This project is to support multiple tablet sharing the same sheet of note paper, with ink transmitted to all machines in real
time. The current implementation allows up to 10 users to work together, and with various facilities for controlling which
ink is displayed. The users share an infinite sheet of paper, and have the ability to independently navigate and zoom.
Handwriting Editor
This project is to support hand written editing of hand written notes. Words and phrases may be crossed out, inserted, or moved, and
the surrounding written text reflows to accomodate the changes, just as traditional keyboard based editors handle text
modifications.
Diagram Recognition
The diagram recognition project was to identify and parse the type of diagrams that come up in a data structures class:
arrays, trees, and linked lists. The motivation was to investigate providing automatic support for analyzing lectures and
student work.
If you plan on attending the demos, please RSVP to Richard Anderson (anderson@cs.washington.edu). A reception will be help in
CSE 303 after the demos.
