CSE 490ra Home > Interview Questions |
Turn-in: Each person should email the instructors his or her answers to the questions below and the answers to the reflective questions. Each group also needs to email their group's answers to the instructors.
For this assignment you should first individually answer the questions below and then meet as a project group to determine the answers for the group
1. Who you will interview (describe in terms of their profile, e.g. people who schedule a lot of meetings).
2. What you are trying to learn from the interviews. What would you like to know about how the user does the work you will be designing an application to support?
3. How you will structure your interviews. This is really a script for
the interview. Depending on your project you may want to conduct your interviews in either
in the style of Contextual Inquiry or in a more structured fashion or some
combination of the two. We will discuss interviewing in class, but as a
quick reminder:
Contextual Inquiry - Watching the user do the task that you are building
an application for. For example, observing and asking questions as someone
grades homework or watching an animator sketch figures. If you choose this
style please make clear what you will be observing, what information will be
trying to learn during the observation.
Structured/Semi-Structured - A more directed interview style where you have a clear idea of what you need or would like to know about. For example, you might ask "How long does grading the homework take?" What are the most annoying parts of grading the homework? List the questions that you are interested in asking.
