Phase-Locked Loops (PLL)

• Contains an oscillator

  • Frequency can be tuned within a range
  • e.g. VCO (voltage-controlled oscillator)

• We lock the oscillator phase to a reference signal

  • Compare the two signals: difference generates a voltage
