• Stage 1

  • Exponent compare

• Stage 2

  • Shift and Add

• Stage 3

  • Round-off , normalize and fix exponent

• (Stages 1 and 3 can be done in about 1/2 the time of stage 2 so the whole thing can be pipelined in two stages)
