• We won't use PALs or PLAs

  • We will focus on FPGAs instead
    • More powerful than PALs or PLAs

• We need to understand ROMs

  • FPGAs use ROM-like structures to encode internal wiring
  • DRAM / SRAM / NVRAM are similar to ROMs
    • Similar internal structure
    • Similar addressing
  • We will use lookup tables (LUTs) stored in memories
