CSE466 Assignment 2
Due Wednesday 4/5/00:
Enough of this manual reset nonsense!
For successful power-on reset, an RC circuit can be used to hold RESET high long enough for the clock source to stabilize, and for the chip to get into reset mode (which takes a few good clock cycles). Design an RC circuit to hold reset for approximately 1M clock cycles after the power comes on, assuming a 32MHz clock. This is overkill, but its nice a safe! Also, add a pushbutton in your circuit that will reset the chip when pushed.
Hint1: RC ~ (1ms + 1Mcycles). Typical values for resistors are between 2K and 50K, typical values for C are 50uF or less.
Hint 2: See Hardware Description page 2-63 for a good example:
Turn In: A brief explanation for how your circuit works. Show your math, and draw your schematic showing the reset circuit and its attachment to the processor.
