Here are the stats on homework 1:
max: 25/25
median: 20
mean: 19.1
stddev: 4.5
As you can see from the standard deviation, there was quite a range of
scores. Especially if you are on the lower end of the spectrum, I
encourage you to work through the sample solutions. We are happy to help
you during office hours.
Problem 2, on the likelihood of detecting errors with a CRC, posed the
greatest challenge to the class as a whole. (This isn't surprising to me
after the visits to my office hours.) Also, many people gave vague
answers on Problem 1, which was about framing overhead.
I'll bring the unclaimed HW1 papers to class on Monday. (I'll be out of
my office most of today.)
If you have a concern about your grade, write your concern, along what the
score is and what you think it should be, on a separate piece of paper.
Attach this to your homework and get it to me by Tuesday.
Cheers,
Janet
