Was once well known for his perfect glass instruments, back in the days when the glass-blowing scene was huge. Nowadays he’s still the man
When it comes to glass-blowing but the there is not much of a glass art scene anymore.
He is a widower, his wife died 15 years ago of a disease.
No kids.
He is a glassblower in the 13th generation. His forefathers owned the shop before him. Since he has no kids he needs the apprentice to pass his knowledge to the next generation, like his father did to him.
He makes enough money for living and has some savings.

Thinks he is talented. He would go fishing with the apprentice on a holiday.
The apprentice reminds him of himself when he was the apprentices age (subconsciously)
Knows all the people in his small town and is well respected by everybody. Goes to the local brewpub for 3 beer every first Friday of the month.

When he won the most important award in glass blowing 50 years ago (when he was the apprentice’s age) (the award is the only thing on the shelf that is not supposed to be dusty)

Likes to sit on a bench in front of hit shop on sunny days and smokes a glass pipe of apple tobacco. The pipe was made by his forefathers and he keeps it in a tiny shrine in his bedroom.
He wants people to think that he is the best in what he does. He creates the most beautiful glass art.
