seconds) Camera on scene of a landscaped world.

We
hear sounds of nature (birds, etc).

As
title fades out, scene “morphs” into a still image.
Shot 2

seconds) The image is interrupted by a blur of flashing lights
(floors passing by). The natural sounds are subtly overtaken by the mechanical
noise of an elevator moving through its shaft.

(dolly
out) We see the edge of the photo and the image of the lake scene.
¨
(pan
out) We realize it’s a photograph held onto by Mr. P’s hand. His thumb is visible, overlapping the image.

seconds) (cut to close up of Mr. P’s face)

Mr.
P’s face bears a slight smile as he gazes at the photo, edge of photo is in
shot. “Ding!” The elevator bell sounds. Mr. P glances up.

floor indicator is pointing toward the far left.

see Mr. P pocketing the photograph into his uniform’s front jacket pocket (some
of the photo is still sticking out). There is a pin with an emblem/logo above
his jacket pocket.

Mr.
P brushes himself off.

The
elevator is now at a stop at the main level. Mr. P reaches for the gate and for
.5 seconds, begins to open the gate. Matchmove

Mr. P)

Mr.
P finishes opening gate.

Fuzzy
silhouettes of figures appear outside the elevator behind the gate.

The
silhouettes, the couple, begin to step into the elevator. Matchmove

The
couple finishes entering the elevator.
Standing near control panel, Mr. P greets couple entering: a MIXED RACE
COUPLE in dance attire (Jack and Ruby)

Mr.
P is about to shut the gate, at the same time the couple is speaking to each
other in profile.
¨
Mr.
P abrubtly stops opening the gate as he notices the girl, the couple stops
arguing, everyone notices Abby (young girl) rushing into elevator holding think
sketch book a few moments after the couple have already entered. Abby says
nothing, but acknowledges operator with a smile.
¨
The
couple moves aside to the back right of the elevator for Abbey to settle into
their spot. The couple begins their
discussion…

The
actions from the couple indicate a disagreement and they’ve come to Mr. P for
some help about where to go for the night.

¨ Gestures (or says) to them “Where to?”
Shot 10 (1.5 seconds --- zoomed out from shot 8) (cut to previous shot of couple)

Couple
shrugs as if to say “We don’t know.”

Mr.
P thinks for a second and comes to the answer.

P reaches over and touches Jack, “I know just the place”.

Mr. P begins to turn counter-clockwise. Matchmove

(3 seconds) Camera is located in the back left
of the elevator facing the control panel, Mr. P, and the couple.

He finishes his turn towards the panel and prepares to
work his magic.
¨
(slow dolly) Towards the center of the panel. Camera follows end of action (matchmove).

Mr. P starts to press the buttons, one, two, cut. Matchmove

The
elevator starts to move.
¨
Mr.
P finishes punching buttons on control panel in a mad flurry. He quickly pecks
the buttons like a person who types only with his index fingers.

The
doors open.

back) They begin to smile at the sight of their world. Look at each other back
at the world.

They
begin to step into their world. Matchmove

is focused at the bottom of the elevator) We see Ruby’s foot crossing the
threshold of the elevator.

pans upward) We see Jack walk into the world as well.

continues to pan upward to Mr. P) He leans out and waves.

The
couple is in their world and are doing their thing (waving goodbye? Begin dancing? Acknowledging Mr. P’s gift)
they are in profile, as we see Abbey who is in the far right of frame. She glances up from her sketch, also in awe
as Mr. P starts to close the gate. (7 seconds of the world)

Mr.
P finishes closing the gate.
¨
Mr.
P begins to turn around and to look downward at Abby. Matchmove

sits on the bench, holding the picker like a fishing pole.

two men exchange looks and look back forward again.

slowly tracks to the left as garbage man comes into the frame.
