Shot 1 (8 seconds) Camera on scene of a landscaped world.

¨ We hear sounds of nature (birds, etc).

¨ As title fades out, scene “morphs” into a still image.

Shot 2 (2 seconds) The image is interrupted by a blur of flashing lights (floors passing by). The natural sounds are subtly overtaken by the mechanical noise of an elevator moving through its shaft.

¨ (dolly out) We see the edge of the photo and the image of the lake scene.

¨ (pan out) We realize it’s a photograph held onto by Mr. P’s hand. His thumb is visible, overlapping the image.

Shot 3 (4.5 seconds) (cut to close up of Mr. P’s face)

¨ Mr. P’s face bears a slight smile as he gazes at the photo, edge of photo is in shot. “Ding!” The elevator bell sounds. Mr. P glances up.

Shot 4 (1 seconds) (cut to close up of floor indicator)

¨ Elevator floor indicator is pointing toward the far left.

Shot 5 (5.5 seconds) (cut to shot of top half of Mr. P)

¨ We see Mr. P pocketing the photograph into his uniform’s front jacket pocket (some of the photo is still sticking out). There is a pin with an emblem/logo above his jacket pocket.

¨ Mr. P brushes himself off.

¨ The elevator is now at a stop at the main level. Mr. P reaches for the gate and for .5 seconds, begins to open the gate. Matchmove

Shot 6 (5.5 seconds) (cut to reverse camera shot towards the elevator doors—P.O.V. of Mr. P)

¨ Mr. P finishes opening gate.

¨ Fuzzy silhouettes of figures appear outside the elevator behind the gate.

¨ The silhouettes, the couple, begin to step into the elevator. Matchmove

Shot 7 (15 seconds) (cut to wide shot of elevator interior from upper rear corner of elevator)

¨ The couple finishes entering the elevator. Standing near control panel, Mr. P greets couple entering: a MIXED RACE COUPLE in dance attire (Jack and Ruby)

¨ Mr. P is about to shut the gate, at the same time the couple is speaking to each other in profile.

¨ Mr. P abrubtly stops opening the gate as he notices the girl, the couple stops arguing, everyone notices Abby (young girl) rushing into elevator holding think sketch book a few moments after the couple have already entered. Abby says nothing, but acknowledges operator with a smile.

¨ The couple moves aside to the back right of the elevator for Abbey to settle into their spot. The couple begins their discussion…

Shot 8 (5 seconds) (cut to shot focusing on couple against back elevator wall, medium close-up)

¨ The actions from the couple indicate a disagreement and they’ve come to Mr. P for some help about where to go for the night.

Shot 9 (3 seconds) (cut to shot of Mr. P’s upper body half)

¨ Gestures (or says) to them “Where to?”

Shot 10 (1.5 seconds --- zoomed out from shot 8) (cut to previous shot of couple)

¨ Couple shrugs as if to say “We don’t know.”

Shot 11 (3 seconds) (cut back to shot of Mr. P, close-up)

¨ Mr. P thinks for a second and comes to the answer.

Shot 12 (3 seconds) (medium close-up of Mr. P and Jack)

¨ Mr. P reaches over and touches Jack, “I know just the place”.

¨ Mr. P begins to turn counter-clockwise. Matchmove

Shot 13 (3 seconds) Camera is located in the back left of the elevator facing the control panel, Mr. P, and the couple.

¨ He finishes his turn towards the panel and prepares to work his magic.

¨ (slow dolly) Towards the center of the panel. Camera follows end of action (matchmove).

¨ Mr. P starts to press the buttons, one, two, cut. Matchmove

Shot 14 (5 seconds) (cut to P.O.V. of Mr. P as he looks at control panel)

¨ The elevator starts to move.

¨ Mr. P finishes punching buttons on control panel in a mad flurry. He quickly pecks the buttons like a person who types only with his index fingers.

¨ Last button, hit.

Shot 15 (6 seconds) (shot from outside of elevator doors, close-up of couple)

¨ Ding!

¨ The doors open.

¨ (dolly back) They begin to smile at the sight of their world. Look at each other back at the world.

¨ They begin to step into their world. Matchmove

Shot 16 (6 seconds) (cut to shot from just outside the elevator threshold)

¨ (camera is focused at the bottom of the elevator) We see Ruby’s foot crossing the threshold of the elevator.

¨ (camera pans upward) We see Jack walk into the world as well.

¨ (camera continues to pan upward to Mr. P) He leans out and waves.

Shot 17 (12 seconds) (cut to shot from the rear of the elevator looking out into the world)

¨ The couple is in their world and are doing their thing (waving goodbye? Begin dancing? Acknowledging Mr. P’s gift) they are in profile, as we see Abbey who is in the far right of frame. She glances up from her sketch, also in awe as Mr. P starts to close the gate. (7 seconds of the world)

¨ Mr. P finishes closing the gate.

¨ Mr. P begins to turn around and to look downward at Abby. Matchmove

Shot 18 (2 seconds) (Medium close-up of Mr. P)

¨ (combined with shot17)

Shot 19 (2 seconds) (Medium close-up of Abbey)

¨ Abby is shyly holding her sketchbook with reservations.

Shot 20 (2 seconds) (Close-up of Mr. P)

¨ Smiling and nodding he prompts Abby to show him the drawing.

Shot 21 (2 seconds) (Medium close-up of Abbey, same as shot 19)

¨ Abbey hands Mr. P a picture in the sketchbook.

Shot 22 (3 seconds) (Close-up of Mr. P)

¨ Mr. P contemplates and arrives at a solution.

Shot 23 (3 seconds) (Medium close-up of Mr. P and Abby)

¨ Mr. P puts his hand on her shoulders and says “I know just the place.”

¨ He begins to towards to the panel and prepares to work his magic. Matchmotion

Shot 24 (2 seconds) (Wide angle from upper left of elevator, begins same as shot 13)

¨ Mr. Finishes his turn towards the panel.

¨ (slow dolly to panel but shorter than shot 13)

Shot 25 (3 seconds) (Close-up of panel)

¨ Mr. P’s hands enter the scene

¨ Mr. P punches buttons on control panel in a mad flurry. He quickly pecks the buttons like a person who types only with his index fingers. The elevator starts to move.

¨ He strikes the last button or not depending on time.

Shot 26 (5 seconds --- similar to shot 15) (cut to just outside of elevator)

¨ Ding!

¨ The doors open.

¨ She begins to smile at the sight of their world.

¨ She takes her first step. Matchmove

Shot 27 (16 seconds --- similar to shot 17) (cut to shot from just inside the elevator)

¨ We see her continue to walk into the world.

¨ Mr. P leans out and waves.

¨ He closes the gate.

¨ He finishes to close the gate and turns back to the panel.

Shot 28 (3 seconds) (medium close-up of Mr. P)

¨ Mr. P finishes turning towards panel.

¨ He begins to reach into his pocket for the picture. (match move to overhead shot)

Shot 29 (6 seconds) (cut to shot from above the elevator)

¨ Finishes reaching into pocket and pulls out the picture..

¨ Mr. P gazes at the photo until we reach the first floor.

¨ Ding!

¨ Looks up at indicator.

Shot 30 (2 second) (cut to close up of floor indicator)

¨ Elevator floor indicator is pointing toward the far left.

Shot 31 (6 seconds) (cut to shot facing front of elevator, showing a profile shot of Mr. P)

¨ Mr. P puts the photo back into his pocket and gets back to work.

¨ He reaches over and opens the gate.

¨ We see his expression of surprise as we cut to a close up. Matchmove

Shot 32 ( 4 seconds) (Just outside of elevator facing doors)

¨ camera just outside of the elevator (closeup)

¨ When he sees who’s outside the elevator, his face goes from surprise to understanding.

Shot 33 (3 seconds) (cut to shot of Mr. P’s P.O.V.)

¨ Another elevator operator (Tess), in uniform, is standing outside the doors.

¨ She begins to walk into the elevator. Matchmove

Shot 34 (2 seconds) (cut to shot facing back of elevator from outside the elevator)

¨ Tess finishes moving into the elevator.

¨ They have a conversation, “It’s time?”.

Shot 35 (3 seconds) (Shot from over the shoulder of Mr. P looking at close-up of Tess)

¨ We see her expression, acting.

Shot 36 (3 seconds) (Shot from over the shoulder of Tess looking at close-up of Mr. P)

¨ We see his expression, acting.

Shot 37 (9 seconds) (Shot from just outside the elevator)

¨ Mr. P gives Tess the pin.

¨ Mr. P exits elevator and into the hallway.

¨ (slow dolly back with Mr. P)

Shot 38 (2 seconds) (Cut to shot of hallway)

Shot 39 (5 seconds)(Back to same shot as shot

¨ Mr. P pulls out the picture and looks at it.

Shot 40 (6 seconds) (cut back to hallway)

¨ We see the photo in his hand raise into view

¨ (dolly) into the picture.

Shot 41 (6 seconds) (Close-up of picture)

¨ There’s a close up of the photo and then it morphs into a real landscaped scene.(2 seconds)

¨ (dolly) into the scene (about 4 seconds)

¨ Mr. P’s in his world.

¨ A garbage picker comes by and picks up garbage from the floor.

Shot 42 (11 seconds) (Jump cut to Mr. P on the bench)

¨ The garbage man moves into the frame and puts the garbage in his shoulder bag and sits on the bench, holding the picker like a fishing pole.

¨ The two men exchange looks and look back forward again.

¨ Camera slowly tracks to the left as garbage man comes into the frame.

Shot 43 (2 seconds – similar to shot 29) (cut to Mr. P close-up)

¨ frame Mr. P to the left, with open space to the right

¨ Mr. P looks towards the garbage man.

Shot 44 (2 seconds) – (close-up of garbage man)

¨ frame him to the left, with open space to the left

¨ The Garbage picker looks Mr. P with a sad face.

¨ Mr. P reaches over and touches the man on the shoulder.

Shot 45 (11 seconds) (Cut to same shot as 42)

¨ both men look back forward again.

¨ Mr. P gets that “I know just the place” look.

¨ Mr. P puts arm on man.

¨ Man turns and smiles.

Shot 46 (5 seconds) (Back to the Close-up of Mr. P)

¨ Mr. P is smiling, he has once again helped someone and he feels fofilled.

Shot 47 CUT TO BLACK.
