What to avoid when animating
by Caroline

i don't know about you guys but this is about how i feel....

this is an example of a bad scene. huh? here's why:

look, when we go further into the scene, we find some mistakes. Here, the girl's arm is going into her body

1: you notice that a shader or light looks unusual, let someone know. you can't really tell in this picture but the flower here looked like it was slightly radioactive...

2: there's deformed clothing or her body's going through her clothes. you should try and fix this by moving around the CVs or something. Remember, it is also sometimes easier to change the body geometry rather than the clothes depending upon what's popping out. Jason taught me how to manipulate things around so i can try and help if you can't find him. For the pants, i moved the CVs around (hulls are a great help).

3: the elbow is all funky or something else is all funky in the way she moves. well, all i can say is fix it because this model you're using is the one that's being taken out and plopped into the final lighting scene.

4: another example of body going through clothing. For this one, it was a combo of deforming the waist and deforming the clothes to fix it.

Yeah, the final product! Things are cleaned up and ready to give to the dudes setting up the final scenes. Remember, these guys have MORE work than you can imagine. And you thought you had it bad, at least you're forced to stop working by Saturday at noon.... Anything you can do to help them out would be great. And making the girl look good would be a nice first step. Remember, the girl you see will be the girl the audience will see. That's it -- no mas --- no mysterious person at the end of the line who'll clean it up. Well, i guess there are, but at least this is one thing you can do that will make their jobs easier.
