Assignment Details:
What to do:
Model a head and
a hand from reference using poly and/or subdivision modeling tools.
For the hand, you
may use your own hand, or find something online or elsewhere. This can be
any type of hand, human, monster, big foot, etc, but you must have
reference for full credit.
For the head,
you can attempt a “self portrait” or find a character you
like online or elsewhere. This can be any type of head, human, monster,
big foot, etc, but you must have reference for full credit.
Consult the anatomy
reference below, and other reference materials, for help with the
structure of hands and heads. It is important to use the muscle and
bone structures as a guide in order to maintain a clean mesh (even if you
are not attempting a photo-realistic representation of a hand and head).
You will be graded on the cleanliness of your mesh! Sites such as www.TurboSquid.com are good for examples of mesh
layouts.
5 Subdivision Surfaces -
Lesson 1 Modeling a subdivision surface. THIS
IS GOOD FOR HIGH LEVEL SUBDIVISION FEATURES, BUT A POOR EXAMPLE OF A
HAND MESH, IT HAS POORLY PLACED N-SIDED POLYS. Please use Zhi’s Hand Tutorial for proper mesh
construction.
Be sure to start early so you
can bring your questions and problems to office hours.
