I used 3 different shader's and 1 pallet material which when uv wrapping I shrunk all of the unwrapped meshes down to 1 pixel so the color scales infinity giving it a 'cartoon' look with little light reflections. However, on the machine and the claw I used blinn phong with custom colors. I made all of the models in Blender from scratch then imported everything into the scene. I am fairly familiar with Blender so I was able to make a pretty large scale scene for my artifact.
